Kumarikatta - 26 June 1984

Kumarikatta belonged to Tezpur diocese at the time of opening our presence here.  At the invitation of Bishop Robert Kerketta, sdb of Tezpur diocese it was opened and erected on 26 June 1984.  We were asked to collaborate with the Salesian congregation who had the charge of this parish since 1977.  

Pioneers: Srs Ruby Konoor (superior), Stephanie Chazhoor, Maggie Neyyan, and Doreen Oviel.

Ministries: Pastoral assistance, healing ministry though health care centre, village and social apostolate, tailoring centre for women, women’s coordination in the diocese of Guwahati.

Our dispensary which was raised to a hospital rendered devoted services to the poor. Though the medical team did well due to lack of doctors later on it was reduced to be a health centre.
